We Love Having One of the Aquaponic Systems at Home

I was on watching the horse races from my condo the other day, and you can see the track right outside in the back. I love watching the horses, and we have several that we keep in a nearby stable. It is so fun going over there every day, so we can feed the horses hay and fresh carrots that are straight from our organic garden. We have one of those aquaponic systems, where the fish are kept in a holding tank to produce fertilizer for our garden. It is a nice change from eating the conventional produce that you find in the grocery store, and when you know that the produce hasn’t been sprayed with poisons and dangerous chemicals. Having an aquaponics system that produces fresh fruit like strawberries, melons, and blueberries is a real treat, even though it took a while to get the knack of growing the more acidic fruits.

An Important Addition to Your Greenhouse

A Greenhouse Staging Kit is essential for anyone growing plants in an indoor greenhouse environment. These kits are specially designed shelving that allow for several plants to be displayed as well as grown in an optimal way. They can be placed at the proper angle and position for sunlight. These kits are also designed for maximum drainage so they do not accumulate debris and water as a typical shelf would. These kits are not just for a greenhouse but can also be used for outdoor patios. These kits are strong and long lasting. They are made from steel and are coated with a protective paint in an attractive green color. The kits are shipped unassembled, but come with instructions and are easy to assemble. After they are fully assembled they measure 55 inches in height and are 27 inches wide as well as 27 inches deep. These units have four shelves for your plants.

Green Thumb: Your Guide to Growing Cilantro Leaves

Innobaby Keepin' Fresh Round Airtight Container 2-Pack - Green/Blue ...Cilantro Leaves are extremely useful in the kitchen: cilantro is lands its bright flavour in dishes of many cuisines, including Asian and Mexican. While dry cilantro is often used in place of the fresh variety, true cooks know there is simply no substitution. You could, of course, buy fresh cilantro if you only use it occasionally, but if cilantro is a main component of your day-to-day meals, you might consider growing it on your own. Cilantro is quite hardy and is an ideal candidate for an indoor window garden since it prefers shaded, cool places. If you choose to grow your cilantro outdoors, select a spot that with indirect sunlight and the plants crowd each other- this will protect your plants from drying out. Cilantro grows fast, so plan on replacing your plants every two months or so. Use the plants you harvested within a few days, or store cut leaves in an air tight container in the freezer for several months.

How Do I Know Whether or Not I Need Lawn Grub Control?

One of the best ways to know whether or not you have grubs in your lawn is by inspecting the lawn itself. If you start to see the lawn turn yellow for no apparent reason in the early spring, then you know that you have problems with lawn grubs. If you have patches of yellow lawn, you can tell whether or not you have grubs by trying to pull on the grass, and if it comes out right away because it doesn’t have very good roots, then it is a good indication that your lawn has grubs.

In addition, you should see grubs around the edges of the dead patches. White grubs will be about three quarters of an inch long and a quarter inch wide. They can be of white color, or even green color if they have recently been eating your lawn. The best way to control these Grubbs is to use a good quality grub poison or lawn grub control. Make sure that you apply it to the areas of the lawn where you think you have most of the problems with your grubs. Other areas of the lawn may not need poison because they have a smaller population of grub worms.
